As part of the Climate Plan, adopted unanimously by the Council of Paris in 2007, the City of Paris is committed to reduce by 30% over the period 2004 to 2020 the energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of its public buildings.
To meet this objective, at the end of 2011, EDF Optimal Solutions, affiliate of the EDF Group was chosen by the City of Paris for the implementation, commissioning, operation and maintenance, including financing for its first Energy Performance Contract comprising 100 schools in the twenty arrondissements.
A major work program was realized, including mainly the production, distribution and emission of heat, Building Management Systems for heating and ventilation, revised exterior joinery, loft insulation and lighting retrofit. This program improved not only energy efficiency but also the comfort of over 20000 students who use the 1100 classrooms included in the project perimeter.
To support this approach, users awareness campaigns to eco-gestures will be organized throughout the contract to students and municipal staff.
